The data from mobile mapping is identical to the point clouds from the 3D laser scan surveys described above, but acquired from moving vehicles. This is analogous to the ubiquitous “Google Streetview” that we are all familiar with.

The point data is coloured using the external camera and geo-referenced using accurate RTK GPS and inertial sensors. The accuracy of this data is not as high as terrestrial static laser scanning, however ideal for street asset inventory surveys and background data for detailed visualisations.
